The word yoga has as many meanings as there are yoga practitioners. We at Roots want to help everyone in creating their own perception of yoga. Each of us has our own reasons to come on the mat and we hope you choose a class always listening and respecting yourself. Our classes are always guided and you are there with our knowledgeable and trained teachers. We offer about 50 classes a week from soft to dynamic – sweaty, restorative, refreshing, relaxing and meditative yoga classes. You don’t have to know how to do yoga, recall asanas or understand yoga vocabulary. The most challenging part is over when you arrive. You can participate in the weekly classes in the studios or from home via live streamed online classes.

Private classes and events

We offer soothing and refreshing moments in the middle of everyday life, which will hopefully also be carried outside the mat. A private yoga class can be held one-on-one, for a small group or a larger crowd. Private lessons are usually held at our studios in Vallila or Töölö. We can also bring the class to your office or livestream it online to wherever you are.

Why practice yoga?
Yoga has many scientifically proven benefits. Various yoga exercises improve the ability to concentrate and become aware of the functioning of your mind, as well as increase your ability to relax. Yoga helps the body recover and, when practiced regularly, also calms the over-alert nervous system and improves sleep quality – which surely everyone knows has a huge impact on overall well-being. Various physical exercises in yoga increase strength, balance and mobility. Yoga strengthens your deep muscles in particular, and with gentle movement brings a great counter-effect to a sedentary lifestyle. Different breathing exercises massage the body from the inside and create space to breathe.
Which classes are suitable for beginners?

If you are a beginner, we recommend starting at our beginners classes. You can start yoga and participate in our classes at any time of the year. Suitable classes for beginners include calmer yoga classes such as hatha, gentle morning, gentle evening and yoga for beginners. During these lessons, you will get in touch with yoga practice through soothing physical exercise. As a beginner, you can also try calming yin yoga, which has no separate starting levels.

Which classes are suitable while pregnant?

In principle, we always recommend pregnancy yoga during pregnancy, which is organized at the beginning of autumn and the beginning of spring. However, if you already have a yoga background, you can join our weekly classes as you please. In this case we recommend gentle and calm classes. You can also attend yin classes, but take special care as during and after pregnancy the body’s supporting tissues are naturally more loose.

How do I prepare for a yoga class?
No special preparation for the lessons is required. However, we recommend drinking enough water and eating well in advance of the start of the class. Drink and eat about 1-2 hours before your arrival to the class.
What do I need to bring to the studio?
Wear comfortable clothes and a yoga mat to the studio, if you own one. We also have mats in the studios, if needed. Yoga is done barefoot, but also bring warm clothes for final relaxation and gentle exercises. As the nervous system calms down, the body also calms down and cools down.
When does the booking window open?
Classes can always be booked for the current day and for the next 6 days. A new day opens for booking every midnight.
How do I know if I got a spot from the waiting list?
If you have received a sport to the class form the waiting list, you will receive information about this by e-mail. Please note that you must have approved email notifications (account management) to receive these. You will receive information about the spot within the cancellation times, i.e. no later than 10 hours before the start of the morning class or 6 hours before the start of the evening class. Unfortunately, it is not possible to send text messages about free spots.
What if I'm a few minutes late for the class?
We do hope you arrive on time. The reception always opens 15 minutes before the class. Unfortunately, we can’t let people in after the class has started and doors have been closed, since we must give peace to those in class.
What if cancellation window has expired, but I am unable to join the class I booked?
After the free cancellation window closes, you can still make a Late cancel, which will free up space for someone else.
I can't log in to my account?
If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it. If you enter your password incorrectly more than once, your account will be locked for 5 minutes. If the login problem persists, please contact info@rootshki.fi.
How can I buy a gift card?

Gift cards can be purchased through our online store. Gift cards can be purchased either for an open amount or for a yoga class bundle.

Our new site has a built-in Mindbody booking system, meaning all your information from Mindbody has been moved under our new site and is stored. However, for security reasons, we are unable to transfer the password between the two systems. The first time you log in through the new pages, you will need to create a new password for yourself. You may use the same password you used before.

and sports benefits (Smartum, ePassi & Eazybreak).
